Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission assists our local governments by constructing base maps that utilize the most current aerial photography and accurately depict county roads, highways, platted streets, lots, subdivisions, and the town’s corporate boundary. The Commission utilizes geographic information system mapping to accurately determine the boundaries between small urban centers and rural areas in our region. The maps and the data compiled to complete them supports local governments need to identify and plan their transportation infrastructure, street and sidewalk improvements, and future growth. Additionally, this research supports the urban/rural designation of road functional classification system.
